Sony World Photography Awards 2017 - My Photo in the Top 50
My photo from the port of Essaouira made it into the top 50 of the Travel category out of 227,596 submissions from 182 countries and will be exhibited in London. A proud moment after nearly 20 years of photography that gave me a real boost. Since then, my work has been featured in SPIEGEL ONLINE, PASSION PASSPORT, and LONELY PLANET Magazine. That is why my most ambitious project yet is coming up in October – six months of travel photography across Latin America.
Ein stolzer Moment. Mein Foto „Essaouira” aus der Marokko-Serie hat es bei den diesjährigen Sony World Photography Awards 2017 in die Top 50 der Kategorie „Travel” geschafft und wird im April bei den Awards in London ausgestellt. Insgesamt wurden 227.596 Fotos aus 182 Ländern eingeschickt.
Schöne Sache, die mich stark motiviert, mich noch intensiver mit der Fotografie auseinanderzusetzen. Bald ist es im Übrigen 20 Jahre her, dass ich mit einem 3-Megapixel-Biest in die Welt der Fotografie eingestiegen bin. Doch erst seit 3–4 Jahren habe ich mit der Street- und Reisefotografie etwas für mich gefunden, das der Leidenschaft einen ordentlichen Schub und einen roten Faden gegeben hat. Seitdem nimmt auch das allgemeine Interesse an meinen Arbeiten zu, was ich sehr schätze und wofür ich dankbar bin.
Gerade in der letzten Zeit ist einiges passiert. So wurden meine Arbeiten unter anderem vereinzelt bei SPIEGEL ONLINE, PASSION PASSPORT und im LONELY PLANET Magazin vorgestellt. Für mich bedeutet es, dass ich mich weiter in meinem Genre spezialisieren werde. Für Oktober dieses Jahres steht dafür mein bisher umfangreichstes Fotoprojekt an. Ich werde für sechs Monate durch Lateinamerika reisen und mich dort fotografisch so richtig ausleben.

A wonderful thing that really motivates me to get even more serious about photography. It’s been almost 20 years since I entered the world of photography with a 3-megapixel beast. But it’s only in the last 3–4 years that I found my thing with street and travel photography — something that gave my passion a real boost and a common thread. Since then, the general interest in my work has been growing, which I truly appreciate and am grateful for.
A lot has happened recently. My work has been featured in places like SPIEGEL ONLINE, PASSION PASSPORT, and LONELY PLANET Magazine. For me, that means I’ll keep specializing in my genre. This October, my most ambitious photo project yet is coming up. I’ll be traveling through Latin America for six months, really going all out with my camera.
